Bow Valley Pride Network 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusivity Training Session.

This workshop will aim to create a common language and understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion concepts as they relate to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We will define terms and speak to the experience of being 2SLGBTQIA+ in Canadian society, with an introduction to unconscious bias and queer microaggressions in the context of the uniquely challenging time we find ourselves in. Then we will give you ideas, advice, and guidelines for serving your 2SLGBTQIA+ guests - and indeed all guests -  in an inclusive, friendly, and respectful manner and making a real, active difference against rising hate. We know that after this session you will feel confident in providing higher quality service for all who walk in your doors, no matter their background. 


This is a challenging and rewarding session where engagement, questions, and curiosity are welcomed and encouraged. 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 101
Training Session.

What is DEI, anyway, and why is it important in 2023? In this introductory session, we will look at fundamental concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion through a 2SLGBTQ+ lens.  Through exercises and examples, we will start discussion on unconscious bias, privilege, and intersectionality and how they apply to everyday life.  Participants will leave with a common language and a broader understanding of the field of DEI and how it related to our lives and workplaces. 

Allyship Toolkit Training Session.

Ally is a verb; allyship means action.  How do you stand up for your friends, loved ones, and values?  In this session, we will create a common language and use that language to describe and detail tools you can use with confidence and fall back on when things get tough. There will be exercises to engage and actionable tips you can put into practice right away.
